Why?

I have never been an inmate and would never pretend to know what its like to be one. I don't have a clue. I have friends who have been in prison. I have friends who are currently in prison. These friends have taught me more about life, addiction, poverty, oppression and hopelessness than I could have learned anywhere else.

Fifteen years ago I first entered a prison as a volunteer involved in a Gospel Express prison crusade. Since then, my life has changed so many ways by my involvement with prison, inmates and other related activities. I keep learning today.

My plans for this blog is to tell you my journey, how my politics and theology have changed, why I treat people differently, how I look at myself differently and my vision for the future. All of this will be mixed together, my past experiences, what I'm doing now and what I'm thinking.

I'm a 57 year old white guy, trying to follow Jesus (don't call myself a Christian), self-employed, husband, father, grandfather and some other things - many of which I'm not so proud of.

So join me on my journey
